Amphibious Multipurpose Dredger Specifications and Applications in India

Varuna P is a versatile multi-purpose machine designed for efficient waterbody restoration, desilting, excavation, and material-handling operations. It is suitable for rivers, lakes, canals, reservoirs, and other inland water systems where accumulated silt, sludge, sediment, or unwanted vegetation affects water flow and storage capacity. With an overall dimension of approximately 11 × 3.3 × 3 m and a transport weight of around 22 tonnes, the machine is well suited for large-scale projects undertaken by government departments, EPC contractors, and water infrastructure agencies across India.

The dredger can operate at a dredging depth of approximately 6–8 m and can be configured with multiple working units such as a pump, bucket, T-cutter, clamshell bucket and rake. This flexibility allows the machine to adapt to different site conditions and project requirements. Its dredging pump offers a flow capacity of up to 900 m³/h, while the 0.6 m³ bucket supports controlled excavation and removal of underwater material.

Varuna P can be used for river desilting, lake restoration, canal maintenance, reservoir cleaning, sediment removal, waterway improvement, and aquatic vegetation management. As an amphibious dredger, it provides greater operational flexibility in shallow, soft, and waterlogged areas where conventional equipment may face access limitations.

The machine also supports a discharge distance of approximately 1,000-1,500 m, helping transfer dredged material efficiently from the work zone. Its adaptable dredger equipment configuration reduces dependence on multiple specialised machines, helping EPC contractors and government agencies improve productivity, optimise deployment, and carry out both restoration and routine maintenance projects more efficiently.
